The lives of Jean Jones and her family of strong-minded women come to an arresting stop when an estranged grandfather dies on their doorstep. Tensions rise and old conflicts come to a boil as Jean uncovers the family’s buried secrets. The Jones women face their divorces, infidelities, and past transgressions, while Jean faces the tough truths of her failing career and her crippling inability to move on from a past relationship. Meanwhile, writer-director Stella Meghie stakes her claim as a rising star.
"A crisply urbane comedy… Juggling the various storylines with the ease of a Robert Altman, Meghie, who took inspiration from her own female-centric Jamaican-Canadian family, garners some terrific performances from her talented ensemble…" Michael Rechtshaffen, Hollywood Reporter
"[Offers a] darkly funny perspective on the contemporary Black experience and that universal feeling of having lived a third of your life but still being no closer to figuring it out." Julia Cooper, Globe & Mail
"Highly visually controlled, snappily edited, and beautifully acted…" Sean L. Malin, Austin Chronicle
