Alain Philoctète is a poet, an artist, and an activist, a man of warmth and grace. Filmmaker Will Prosper follows Alain on his return to his native Haiti, where he dreams of establishing a permaculture project in partnership with local farmers. We’re swept up in the easy rapport he establishes with everyone he meets, his openness to the beauty of the country despite its poverty and hardships exacerbated by the ravages of natural disaster, dictatorship and colonialism. A visit to a cooperative farm clearly inspires him, and he admits to some reluctance to go back to his family in Quebec.
