Ford v Ferrari
Panorama | Special Presentations
Academy Award-winners Matt Damon and Christian Bale star in the adrenaline-fueled Ford v Ferrari, based on the remarkable true story of the visionary American car designer Carroll Shelby (Damon) and the fearless British-born driver Ken Miles (Bale), who together battled corporate interference, the laws of physics, and their own personal demons to build a revolutionary race car for the Ford Motor Company - and then take on the dominating race cars of Enzo Ferrari (Remo Girone) at the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race in France in 1966.
Demonstrating pace and control that would be the envy of any Formula 1 driver, James Mangold also revs up the love of outlaws he displayed with 3:10 to Yuma. At first glance, Shelby, forced out of racing due to heart problems, and Miles, a washout as a businessman, hardly seem like the sort of horses that Ford executive Lee Iacocca (Jon Bernthal) would - or should, for that matter - hitch his high-performance wagon to. But he evidently recognizes that hell hath no fury like two daredevils with something to prove.
The velocity of the high-performance drama that ensues is breathtaking.
