When the Tide Goes Out

ALT | BC Spotlight

Following thousands of years of sustainable stewardship by the Tsleil-Waututh First Nation, encroaching industry and development polluted their traditional territory surrounding Vancouver to the point that food harvesting had to be banned. Today, over 45 years later, the Tsleil-Waututh have restored some specific habitats within their territory to safe levels, both as a means of survival and for the reclamation and rejuvenation of their culture.
