Seen From Above
ALT | International Shorts
While vacationing with her family at a mountain lake, teenage Vivian finds herself drawn to a boy neighbour… and his remote-control drone. At first seemingly about a charming, flirtatious relationship, Seen From Above plays with this conventional narrative in a most inventive and insightful way. The film is as much about this generation’s fascination with and acceptance of being recorded and watched, revealing their lives to remote others, as it is about Vivian’s guided tour of the beautifully scenic locations. Mina Sundwall (Netflix’ Lost in Space) is absolutely wonderful as the principal in this strange one-way conversation that is touching, introspective and revealing.
