It doesn’t seem like too much to accept—in fact, it seems like a gift from above to many of the female workers at a textile factory under new management: in order to keep the factory open and their jobs secure, all the workers have to do is give up seven minutes of their 15-minute lunch break each day… Based on events that took place in France in 2012, Michele Placido’s impassioned, politically pointed drama has 11 female workers’ reps tasked with deciding whether or not to accept these new terms. For Bianca (Ottavia Piccolo), who believes that management is being disingenuous and that this "minor" request is but the thin edge of the wedge, convincing the others to look beyond the immediate and consider the bigger picture—that workers’ rights, fought for long and hard, are being ground down to dust; that the company will gain 900 hours of free labour per month with the change; that more changes will come—is the fight of a lifetime.

"There is an alchemical righteous anger pumping through the film’s veins that transforms its deceptively simple premise, its unglamorous locations and densely talky approach into the stuff of resonant, compelling, timely filmmaking… Playing out as a confident amalgam of the Dardenne brothers’ Two Days, One Night and Sidney Lumet’s 12 Angry Men, this is Placido’s 12th feature as director… and his experience shows in the strong performances he elicits from his almost-all-female cast… It’s gripping, for such an apparently unsexy subject, and surprisingly cinematic…"—Jessica Kiang, Variety
