Program Updates

Visit our Update page for the most current information regarding added films and screenings, cancelled screenings, program changes and advance-ticket-sold-out screenings. At Festival time, if you send an email to programupdate@viff.org, updates will automatically be sent to you.

The guide is now ready for use.

View the 2005 VIFF program by title, by day, by director, or by country.

We recommend browsing films by title or by country.

Looking for some action tonight? How about a comedy? Our maybe that Buddhist Interest film that all the neighbourhood is talking about? You'll find it in the Interest Section.

In the by title section, you have the option of viewing in a simple alphabetic List View or, when viewing films by title, in the Summary View, which includes descriptions and a small picture. You can also view the titles alphabetically in the Schedule View which lists the times and dates of screenings.

In the by schedule section, the viewing options include the list view and the grid view.

Easy access to box office purchases is available through by title, by day, by country, or by director in the the Schedule View.

Use the drop-down menus to narrow your selection to one of our VIFF sections: Cinema of Our Time, Canadian Images, Nonfiction Features of 2005, Dragons & Tigers: The Cinema of East Asia, Spotlight on France, Brazilian Music or Vancouver International Film Centre.

In all cases, you can click on the film title to go straight to the full program note for the film you have selected.

Visit our Box Office Pages to buy tickets, or call the VISA Charge-by-Phone line at 604-685-8297. Tickets and passes are also available at our advance outlets.

Want to take the 2005 VIFF wherever you go?

VIFF Guests

Curious about which screenings will feature VIFF guests? You can peruse the list by film or by guest surname. This list changes frequently, so please check back regularly for updated versions.

Print Sources

All available print sources for feature and mid-length films can be viewed through the individual film note. Find the film you are interested in, click on the title to view the film note, then click the "Film Resources" located beneath the image in the top right corner. If the "Film Resources" link does not appear, we cannot provide a print source for that film. For a list of print sources for short films screening in the 2005 VIFF, check back here at Festival time to download a pdf-version list.

Annual Membership - $2

As a registered non-profit society, the Vancouver International Film Festival screens films that have not been seen by the B.C. Film Classification Board. Under B.C. law any person wishing to see these unclassified films must belong to the Film Festival Society and be 18 years or older. By joining the society, you are also entitled to attend the Annual General Meeting (April 19, 2005 at the Vancouver International Film Centre - 1181 Seymour St.). Membership is valid until the following year’s Film Festival season begins.

Certain films have been classified for the sake of children under 18, who are prohibited by law from becoming members of the Greater Vancouver International Film Festival Society. Adults must still be members to attend these Festival screenings.

You will be required to show your membership card at each screening you attend. If you cannot produce a valid membership card we will ask you to purchase one at that time.
