Media Centre

The media office is open from August 3 through October 31. From September 22 through October 8, the media office operates from the Crowne Plaza Hotel Georgia. Details will be advised.

Media Releases

VIFF typically issues about eight media releases over the course of the festival; the first will be issued the week of August 9. All releases will be published here. They also are emailed as plain text, with a link to a PDF version for printing, to everyone in the VIFF media database. We do not mail or fax releases.

Email Updates

In addition to press releases, we send frequent email updates to media in the database. These informal advisories cover topics such as press screening schedules, VIP guests expected at the galas, interview opportunities, sell-outs, program changes, and so on.

Media Database Additions

Journalists wishing to be added to the VIFF media database should send an email to media@viff.org with ADD in the subject line. In the body of the email, you must include your name, media organization and its web address, your role (film critic, arts reporter, researcher, photographer or whatever), your preferred postal address, your email address and daytime phone number. Include a brief description of your media organization - type, circulation or audience, frequency, etc. - or, if freelance, information on your primary outlets. If your email does not include all the requested information, we will not add you to the list. Sorry, but we cannot add non-media to this database. Please note that being in the database does not automatically confer accredited status; you must apply separately for media accreditation.

Media Accreditation

For media accreditation details, see Accreditation

Photo Library

Media may download still photos of films at the Photo Library. No password is required. We make every effort to publish at least one photo per film; if you need photos other than those available on line, please email media@viff.org with PHOTO in the subject line and outline your request, deadlines, etc. in the email.

Media Conference – September 1

A press conference to announce the full program line-up and other VIFF 2004 details takes place September 1. Details will be advised by email.

Media Screenings – September 2-22 (weekdays only)

VIFF screens three or four films per weekday for media from September 2 to 22. The screenings will be announced at the press conference and by email. In addition to the VIFF-scheduled screenings, some distributors schedule their own media screenings. VIFF rarely stages media screenings during the festival.
