The Reel Youth Film Festival

A Festival within a Festival. This is the third year the VIFF is partnering with Reel Youth to showcase the best shorts from the filmmakers of tomorrow. This year's offerings:

Family Stones (Reel Youth Nepal, 22 min.) A touching and uplifting film about five Nepali children who have been rescued from the adult prison system.
Repeat (Alex Bailey, 2 min.) Each human struggles to accept her/himself. How can we live with our flaws.
Limp Clown (Wayne Robinson,10 min.) Ed is a part time clown who stars in a circus of impotence.
Freedom (Peace It Together, 3 min.) Hand-drawn paintings and rotoscope images create a poetic meditation on individual freedom and hope.
Static Fiction (Michael Bradley, 4 min.) Music creates a gateway into the realm of imagination. A real and surreal view of modern clay media.
Detention (ViewFinders, 5 min.) A kid's first "detention" breathes life into an otherwise dull day.
Crossover (Big Picture Alliance, 6 min.) I don't want to lose control and be trapped in the water... A hard hitting, beat-bouncing rap video.
The Mask (Hur Seoung Bum, 10 min.) A stunning film describing the stress of high-school students in South Korea.
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall (Brooke Martin, 5 min.) A mysterious mirror reflects the truth to those who look into it.
Evolve (North Surrey Secondary School, 1 min.) The crocodile hunter meets Work Safe BC.
In My Shoes (Urban Arts Partnership, 5 min.) Raises awareness of NYC youth homelessness by de debunking stereotypes.
Killers of the Earth (Jeffrey Bruno, 2 min.) Two cheerful aliens demolish planets for a living. Their next assignment is Earth.
Sparks in the Night (Ben Kadie, 3 min.) The 1940s: Detective Leon Spars closes in on a notorious lawbreaker.
Reel Youth Clay-mation (Purple Thistle Youth, 5 min.) Youth at Purple Thistle use clay-animation to answer the question, "What do you want to see changed in your world"
