Vancity Theatre Basic Membership — $2
To see films at the Vancity Theatre, you must—with a few exceptions—be age 19 or older and be a member of our registered non-profit society.
Why? Similar to the Vancouver International Film Festival, most of the films we screen are unclassified (not rated) and, under B.C. law, in order to see unclassified films you must be a registered member of a film society. Only members are permitted to be present at the place where a non-classified film is being exhibited.
Also, Vancity Theatre is a licensed premise. Filmgoers can enjoy a glass of beer or wine before or after our screenings. Our license allows us to serve alcohol to Vancity Theatre members over 19 years of age only.
Membership is by annual subscription and is limited to persons who are 19 years of age or over.
By joining the society, you are entitled to attend the next Annual General Meeting.
This membership is NOT valid for the Vancouver International Film Festival or rental events.
We’ll soon be launching a revamped program called VIFF+ that offers even more value to our cardholders.
The new VIFF+ program will offer you:
- Greater discounts on individual tickets at year-round screenings at Vancity Theatre
- New discounted prices on single tickets, ticket packs, and passes at the Vancouver International Film Festival including the opportunity to take advantage of even greater savings at our VIFF+ Cardholder Day in August
- Vouchers for free popcorn at the Vancity Theatre concession
Stay tuned for VIFF+ in Mid-June!
