Tanya Wexler
Title: Director, Hysteria

Tanya Wexler developed her current film, Hysteria with Producer Tracey Becker from a fledgling two page treatment while pushing one or other of her four kids around in a stroller. She knew she had to make the story of the birth of the vibrator if she never did anything else with her life. Her wife Amy happily agreed, on the condition she was allowed to share in any production swag. Tanya was born and raised in Chicago, IL, and received her BA in Psychology from Yale University. She received her MFA in Film Direction from the Columbia University School of the Arts where she made two short films: The Dance (1993 11mins), Telluride Intl. Film Festival, Seattle Intl. Film Festival, and Cool Shoes (1995 15 mins.), Houston Intl. Film Festival Medal Award-Winner. Her two feature films are Ball in the House (2001, 95 mins.) which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (aka Relative Evil) starring Jennifer Tilly, David Straithairn, Jonathan Tucker and Ethan Embry; and Finding North (1996 91mins.) Palm Springs Intl Film Festival, NY Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, LA Outfest, SF Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, starring Wendy Makkena and John Benjamin Hickey. Tanya lives in New York with her partner and four children. She has never been diagnosed with Hysteria as far as we know.
