In her role as Director of Drama Development for Omni Film Productions Michele McMahon develops drama and comedy series for television. Michele recently developed CBC’s new drama Arctic Air which premiered to over 1 million viewers - the highest premiere for a CBC drama in over a decade. She also developed Primeval: New World a new drama for CTV/Space, ProSieben and UKTV which will air this Autumn 2012.
Michele has been at Omni for eight years and previous to developing scripted programming at Omni Michele developed and researched docs such as Shock Wave (CBC) and factual series like Make Some Noise (CBC). In her diverse 20 year career as a journalist, writer and TV producer Michele McMahon has researched stories for the 6’oclock news, edited a weekly newspaper, freelanced for national newspapers and magazines and written several feature screenplays. Along the way she was Chair of the Amnesty International Film Festival for five years, read scripts for national competitions and story edited numerous screenplays. Michele earned degrees in Political Science (Carleton University), Journalism (Algonguin College) and Writing for Film (Vancouver Film School). Late at night and on the weekends she continues to write magazine articles, screenplays and poetry.
