Film + TV Forum

The premier film and television conference on the West Coast, the VIFF Film and Television Forum takes place during the heart of the Vancouver International Film Festival and offers four days of professional development for registered participants. Forum topics are wide-ranging and industry-relevant, from financing and production, to marketing and distribution, to storytelling and audience engagement.

      Direct Distribution Lab for Independent Filmmakers

New for 2013, established producers and filmmakers are invited to attend an inaugural one-day Lab to collaboratively explore new best practices in making profitable independent films. Sessions will feature experts in theatrical releasing, digital distribution; new technology platforms for independent sales and distribution; audience engagement; and working with aggregators, digital platforms and networks.

      Industry Sessions and Panels

Featuring acclaimed international experts in all aspects of the business and craft of film and television, these sessions are targeted to mid-to-senior level industry professionals.

      Master Classes

Featuring award-winning speakers from some of the most celebrated, successful and critically-acclaimed films and television series, these sessions will educate and inspire everyone from established to emerging industry professionals.

      Telefilm Canada Tête-à-Tête Meetings

More meetings = more access. Established industry professionals are welcome to sign up for a limited number of one-on-one meetings with the Forum’s acclaimed guest speakers.

      Local Industry Speed Dating Meetings

Designed specifically to further strengthen and grow our valuable local film and television industry, emerging industry professionals are welcome to sign up for a limited number of one-on-one meetings with senior members of the Vancouver film and television industry.

      New Filmmakers’ Day

A standing-room only event for the past eight years, this day-long series of sessions with is designed for (but not limited to) emerging writers, directors and producers of film and television.

      Networking and Parties

Forum delegates and day-passholders will have access to a variety of events, including Industry Cocktail Hours during the Forum; Women in Film and Television’s Martini Madness; and New Filmmakers’ Day Reception.
