Susan Shipton
Susan Shipton grew up in Toronto where she has spent most
of her life, until a recent move took she and her husband
and two dogs to the countryside east of Toronto. Susan is
a graduate of the Film Studies program at Queen's University.
Susan is best known as an editor for her work with director
Atom Egoyan, his latest film, Adoration is their
seventh collaboration. Susan received a Genie Award for Best
Achievement in Film Editing for Egoyan's The Sweet Hereafter
and for her work with Robert LePage on Possible Worlds.
She was also awarded the director's Guild of Canada craft
Award for editing Istvan Szabo's Being Julia.
Susan has just returned from five months in Brussels where
she worked with celebrated director Jaco VanDormael (Toto
Le Hero) on his extraordinary new film, Mr. Nobody.
Susan also wrote, produced and directed the short film, Hindsight
(based on Dennis Foon's play of the same name), which was
invited to numerous international film festivals, including
the 2000 Montréal World Film Festival, the Toronto
International Film Festival and the Los Angeles International
Short Film Festival. She is currently writing an adaptation
of the novel Wild Dogs by acclaimed author Helen
Humphreys. She is developing the project with Producer Simone
Urdl (Adoration, Luck) for Susan to direct in the
summer of 2009.
