Bruce Marchfelder
Bruce's writing/directing debut, The Artist's Circle
was selected for the 53rd Cannes International Film Festival.
He was the winner of the CBC/BC Signature Shorts screenwriting
competition for Casanova at 50. Bruce was also the
Recipient of the Crystal Heart Award, which "honors filmmakers
whose work explores the human journey by artistically expressing
hope and respect for the positive values of life." In
NYC, he wrote and directed four award-winning documentaries
and produced three feature films including Mika Kaurismaki's
Amazon, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival.
Bruce also arranged financing for three other international
feature productions. As new media artist, he has collaborated
with Moby, Yoko Ono, HBO, MTV, BBC, The Guggenheim Museum,
The Andy Warhol Museum, and Mass MoCA. He was also a Directors
Guild "Crazy 8's" participant. Bruce has an MA from
Yale University.
Mr. Marchfelder is head of the Film Studies Department at
Corpus Christi and St Marks Colleges on the campus of the
University of British Columbia and chairs the directing program
at the Vancouver Film School.
