David Collins

David Collins founded Samson Films in 1984. His credits include some of the most significant films of the last 20 years including Pigs (Cathal Black), Eat The Peach (Peter Ormrod) and I Went Down (Paddy Breathnach - as Executive Producer).

Samson Films has been awarded slate funding by the Media Programme and MPD funding by the Irish Film Board. Recent feature film credits include: Eden (2007), written by Eugene O'Brien and directed by Declan Recks; Once (2006), written and directed by John Carney. Once won an Oscar for Best Song (2008), was the Winner of World Cinema Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival (2007), won the Dublin Film Festival Audience Award (2007) and an Independent Spirit Award (2008); True North (2006), a co-production with Germany and the UK, written and directed by Steve Hudson; Asylum (2005), a co-production with the UK; Blind Flight (2005), a co-production with the UK; The Honeymooners (2004), written and directed by Karl Golden; and The Abduction Club (2004), a co-production with the UK, France and Germany.

Samson also has a sister company, Accomplice Television, which specialises in original television drama productions. It has received investment from Enterprise Ireland and company development funding from the Media Programme. Most recent television credits include: Dan & Becs (2006) - Series 2; Bachelors Walk (2001, 2002, 2003) and Christmas Special (2006), Hide and Seek (2006), Pure Mule (2005) and Watermelon (2004).

David is an Executive Member of Screen Producers Ireland, the representative association for Irish producers and directors. He is also a member of the European Film Academy. David is also one of the promoters of the Lighthouse Cinema at Smithfield, a 4- screen art house cinema complex.
