Bruce Sweeney
Bruce Sweeney was born in Sarnia, Ontario. He earned a BA in Visual Art and Communication from Simon Fraser University in 1987. After graduating from University of British Columbia in 1991 with a diploma in Film and Television Studies, Bruce went on to receive an MFA in Film Production from U.B.C in 1996.
His first feature “Live Bait” won the City TV prize for Best Canadian Film at the Toronto International Film Festival in 1995. “Live Bait” was his Masters thesis film.
His second feature, “Dirty”, won Best Canadian feature at the Vancouver International Film Festival in 1998. Dirty screened at Sundance and Berlin. His third film “Last Wedding”, was chosen as the Gala Opening Night film in 2001. Two of the principal performers, Molly Parker and Vince Gale, won Genie awards in 2002.
Bruce currently lives in Vancouver, BC. |
