What separates a good documentary from a great one? It's getting to the raw unfiltered truth - and drawing that out from subjects is an art form that is rarely taught. Once you've covered the basics of who, what, where, when and why, you need to probe further into the darker, more private corners of your subject. How do you put your interviewee at ease? How do you know when they're lying? How can you draw out their (sometimes) hidden stories without putting them on their guard? Hear from a criminal lawyer, a psychoanalyst, and an investigative reporter on how they get to the heart of the matter. Thanks to BritDoc for inspiration for this session!
