Lana was abandoned in the zoo at the age of three, and has grown up with the animals and their keepers. The feeling of abandonment has never left her, and she has never left the zoo. One day a magician dressed as a cowboy takes her away and makes her his assistant. Then one of his tricks causes him to vanish, and Lana is left to be a sex-worker in a spa. She decides to return to the place where she was first abandoned, but now she has the urge to touch the animals… Edwin’s soft/hard fantasy redefines the feeling of yearning. Postcards from the Zoo is as fragmentary as the title suggests, and as poetic and evanescent as any film you’ll see this year. Its underlying meanings hide in plain sight. Plays with: Blood Seller
