FILMS | Dragons & Tigers: The Cinema of East Asia
VIFF's Dragons & Tigers: The Cinemas of East Asia program is the largest annual exhibition of East Asian films outside of Asia. It highlights the cutting edge, emerging talent and continued excellence in East Asian cinema. The program got its start at VIFF in 1985; the 2009 line-up showcases 40 feature films and 24 shorts.
The 16th annual Dragons & Tigers Award for Young Cinema, a $10,000 prize for an emerging filmmaker, is chosen by jury from eight films in competition. The award is generously supported by donors Brad Birarda and Robert Sali.
