about viff l Awards

Beginning in 1988 when the VIFF gave out its first "Most Popular Film" prize to Some Girls, the Festival has offered a number of awards, both adjudicated and voted on by you, the audience, to deserving films. These awards are:

Adjudicated Awards

Audience Awards

Rogers People's Choice Award for the Most Popular Film

Each year, the audience determines this important award. Remember to vote in 2008! Films are ranked based on the number of ballots received and average rating. The information provided by the ballots not only determines the award winning films, but also provides feedback to the Festival and to the party that has kindly supplied the film.
In 2007, PERSEPOLIS , directed by Marjane Satrapi of Iran and Vincent Paronnaud of France, won the Rogers People's Choice Award for Most Popular International Film. The award was announced by the evening's emcee, CBC Television news anchor Gloria Macarenko.
